They just... get repackaged as the Pocket Color Arcade?

What the heck?

I was at Fry's this morning perusing their lucrative, lucrative sale items when I noticed a bunch of these things hanging on a shelf just past the console section. Yes, it is apparently a NeoGeo Pocket Color. The actual packaging avoids mentioning NeoGeo anywhere, but if you look carefully at the labels and the screen, it's definitely there.

My question is: How much is SNK involved with this? I'd never even heard of a re-issue of any sort and figured these things were becoming extinct, except here's a tiny army of them creeping up on the games aisle at Fry's. The system and six games for $70 (EB quotes $79) isn't a bad deal, I suppose, especially when there's already an "expansion set" out.

Weird, weird.
