Nintendo GameCube 2001 - 2007

Perrin Kaplan has confirmed that Nintendo has ceased manufacturing everyone's favorite, not-quite-cubic console. Its big releases may have been few and far between, but boy did it have some quality titles.

A brief look back at some of the best exclusives (which you may have heard of before):

F-ZERO GX - Totally impossible, hyper-maxifun racing from the future! Excite Truck may have a better sense of speed, but this game will always be the fastest racer. If that makes sense.

Metroid Prime - Metroid in 3D, as a first-person shooter was a recipe for disaster. But Retro Studios not only didn't ruin the franchise, they somehow made it awesome. I couldn't have asked for a better game to pick up alongside my Cube.

Super Smash Bros. Melee - ...Except for this one! Morgan and I spent hours and hours of our sophomore year battling it out ADD-style.

Pikmin 2 - Loads of content, puzzles, action, strategy, and just a really fun overall tone.

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Cartoon Link 4 LIFE.

Resident Evil 4 - OK, not an exclusive, but if only Capcom had somehow gotten this out a few years earlier instead of all those remakes and rereleases (and had actually kept this exclusive), the Cube's life might have been very different.

Rest in peace.

Three year old Cartoon Link doesn't hold a red candle to ageless, non-Greek, uncle-avenging, 2-D-rocking, bunny-morphing, crystal-collecting, Real-Gannon-fighting Link and don't you forget it! I will fight you!
