I was going through my Delicious bookmarks and ran across UK:Resistance's game of the year 2006, which went to Animal Crossing: Wild World. I read through it again because it was awesome, just like Animal Crossing is awesome, and was ELATED to rediscover that this is where one of my favorite gaming quotes of all time comes from.

Here's what they had to say to ACWW non-believers:

Come back next year. We'll still be playing it. It's that good. And if you don't get it you can bugger off back to playing games about men shouting "HOLY SHIT" and shooting machine guns at each other with all the other 14-year-old morons.

New friend code for a brand new town, Romaly! I just got the game this evening and haven't done much besides get settled and finish Tom Nook's tasks, but I'll be back on tomorrow. Maybe I'll even check out the city.

I was glad to see that I could import my character from Wild World without actually loading up the town, which I'm sure is covered in horrible weeds at this point. I also got caught off guard (and with pockets full of pears) by Nook's closing an hour earlier than I expected. I'll have to get used to that.

Also, I knew this wasn't going to be a significant upgrade, but I'm still a little disappointed to see how little has changed since Wild World. People who thought ACWW didn't do enough to improve on the GC version should probably avoid this one altogether. But on the bright side: 64 pattern slots! And "pro" patterns are also a pretty cool and unhyped (as far as I heard) feature.

As for someday getting a fully-fledged sequel, I can always dream.
