untitled (Illusion)
10.25.04 - acrylic on canvas, 48x36"
Done during a quarter studying color theory under the inimitable Phil Argent. The design was inspired by the works of Japanese professor Akiyoshi Kitaoka, whose optical illustions have probably melted your eyes at least once or twice. Since many of his illusions are named with Japanese puns, I would have liked to use something similar for the name of this painting. Unfortunately, having no knowledge of Japanese was sort of an obstacle in making that happen.
